About Dr Erica van Meygaarden

DR Erica van Meygaarden, Homeopathic practitioner, MTech(Hom) PR 0144347 Reg A1351

Dr Erica is a registered homeopathic practitioner who has been practicing in Heidelberg, Gauteng for 14 years. She has an integrative practice and uses many modalities when treating a patient, including classical homeopathy, acupuncture, herbal and nutraceutical therapy . Functional medicine protocols for chronic diseases have also become a core focus, as well as using diagnostic tools such as live blood analysis, bio resonance and Iridology.

Dr Erica graduated at Technikon Witwatersrand (now UJ) in 2002 with her Masters Degree in Homeopathy. Her Masters research on the effect of a homeopathic remedy made from the whole bee (Apis mel) on the inflammatory response, has piqued a key interest in immunity as well as natural inflammation therapies in her practice. However, being a mom to 3 young children she also sees many children, as well as female disorders and of course nearly any disease and issue that any GP may see.

She devoted much time to becoming a classical homeopathic prescriber by going to international seminars by renowned homeopathic doctors, as well as spending 4 months at a homeopathic hospital in Mumbai, India as an internship in 2002. Classical homeopathy, where one single remedy is prescribed  to fit the individual case can be very effective in certain situations, especially children and chronic diseases. However she will almost always prescribe a herbal tincture too, as herbs of highest quality can work very quickly and can be effective antibiotics, pain relievers or an alternative to almost any medical drug but without the side effects.

Dr Erica learned acupuncture during her 5th and 6th year while studying and has used these techniques very effectively for many disorders especially pain management or musculoskeletal disorders. She also uses homeopathic injectables from the German company Heel which are injected into acupuncture points for maximum efficacy. This technique is called mesopuncture using bio-therapeutics, and she completed a course in this with Dr Motz in 2005.

Attained a certificate in Basic and advanced Iridology from Dr Wessels during her 5th year of study.

During the last 8 years, Dr Erica attended seminars presented by the Functional Medicine Institute, as well as renowned international speakers. She has completed a course in First Line Therapy in 2012 which is a lifestyle disease program, and is based on Functional medicine.

From 2015-2017 Dr Erica has attended classical homeopathy lectures presented by Dr Lilley.

Dr Erica is a mother to 3 children who keep her very busy, and teach her so much.

"In my home and family life, I only use natural and homeopathic medicine. We live a healthy balanced life, and eat colourful healthy meals. Instead of sugar, we are a 'honey family' as my husband Mike is a beekeeper on the side. He has a passion for bees and honey products, and we make sure the honey is never heated and  only raw. I sell this in my practice too. I love being in nature and will often go for hikes with my family in the nearby Suikerbosrand or Drakensberg. I have a keen interest in archaeology, and ethnopharmacology (medicines from the veld) and the nearby mountains and hills provide wonderful study areas."

Natural healing has made a difference in the health of many people with minor or even severe ailments in a very short time. It is a gift to be healed with nature!
