Finding an alternative to pain killers is one of the most common reasons for patients to try alternative therapy. Arthritis, ligament and sports injuries, back problems and neuralgias can often become chronic. If surgery is not an option, then chronic pain killers and anti-inflammatories are prescribed. For this reason, I have combined my knowledge of different modalities, and work with other therapists to come up with a solution to Pain relief without pain killers.

Acupuncture is one of the best known natural therapies for musculoskeletal pain. It has benefits that are beyond medication, and can add to other physical therapies like chiropractor or physiotherapy. In my practice, I combine acupuncture, dry needling and homeopathic injections into acupuncture points (Mesopuncture).

Massage using infrared light and heat after the acupuncture therapy helps with the clearing of stagnant lymph fluids, improves circulation and can relieve muscle spasms.

What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a technique in which practitioners stimulate specific points on the body—most often by inserting thin needles through the skin. It is seldom painful as the needles are extremely thin. Acupuncture is one of the practices used in traditional Chinese medicine, but is gaining popularity in Western medicine globally.

What is Mesopuncture?

Mesopuncture is a combined therapy using acupuncture and homeopathic injections into acupuncture points. In this way, we achieve a synergistic healing effect: the pharmacological effect of the homeopathic injection as well as the therapeutic benefits of acupuncture.

 What conditions can be treated?

Acupuncture should be the treatment of choice for the following:

  • Neck and back pain including: sciatica, lumbago, pinched nerves, muscular spasms, stiff neck etc.

  • Headaches and migraines.

  • Shingles and any type of neuralgia.

Acupuncture is indicated in the following painful conditions:

  • Rheumatic and arthritic conditions e.g. tennis elbow, fibrositis, frozen shoulder, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

  • Sports injuries.

  • Neurological problems such as trigeminal neuralgia and Bell’s palsy.

  • Spastic colon.

  • Infertility, painful periods.

What can I expect from acupuncture treatment?

Scientific research has shown that acupuncture has an inhibitory effect on nerve pain transmission. Patients will experience the beneficial effect of the therapy after a series of one to four treatments. The combination with injections means that the effect is often felt as you walk out, and can last the entire first week.

This is cumulative pain relief, where the second treatment lasts longer, and the second to forth treatments can completely relieve.

Acupuncture will mainly improve function but cannot remove structural changes or damage to tissues. For example, it can reduce the pain and stiffness associated with a pinched sciatic nerve, but it cannot replace or repair the damaged intervertebral disk.
